En 1.500 år gammel vej er fundet i Jerusalem af israelske arkæologer. Det vides, at vejen i sin tid er med sikkerhed blevet anvendt af kristne pilgrimme, idet vejen faktisk findes på en kendt mosaik med kort over Det Hellige Land. Vejen ligger lige inden for Jaffa-Porten i den gamle bydel, og ligger nede i 4 meters dybde - hvor de israelske arkæologer fandt de store fliser, vejen var belagt med. Det er på gulvmosaikken i Sankt Gregor-Kirken i Jordan, at vejen er synlig - kortet er det ældst kendte kort over Israel. Kvalifikationskampene begynder i september, men først den 7. marts kender man rækkefølgen og datoerne for kvalifikationskampene.

Israel bygger hegn langs egyptisk grænse

Regeringen i Jerusalem har netop med en bevilling på 1,5 milliarder kroner godkendt opførelsen af et 265 kilometer langt grænsehegn, som skal sættes op langs grænsen til Egypten.
Formålet med hegnet er bedre at kunne gardere sig dels imod illegale indvandrere, som der formodes at opholde sig 300.000 af i Israel for tiden, dels mod militante islamister.
Grænsehegnet vil blive overvåget elektronisk, og det vil tage cirka to år at opføre.

Dansk-palæstinenseren gav sin forklaring, da retssagen mod ham mandag begyndte i retten i Odense. Her står han tiltalt for fem-dobbelt drabsforsøg, idet han skød mod en bod i Rosengårdcentret, hvor tre israelske kosmetiksælgere var i færd med at betjene to danske kvinder.
Den ene israeler blev skudt i benet, mens den anden blev ramt i armen.
Ifølge den 28-årige havde han alene til hensigt at skræmme israelerne og forsvare sig selv, og derfor nægter han sig skyldig i anklagerne for drabsforsøg. Han havde ikke haft noget konflikt med dem i forvejen, men vidste, at der i centret var en bod med hårprodukter og cremer drevet af to mænd og en kvinde fra Israel. I dagene op til skyderiet var konflikten i Gaza blusset op, og flere medier rapporterede om voldsomme kampe med civile ofre i Gaza-området. Det havde gjort den 28-årige vred.
- Israelerne har taget alt fra min familie, dræbt dem og taget deres jord og huse. Så kommer man i Rosengårdcentret og tror, man bare kan gøre, hvad der passer en, sagde den 28-årige i retten.
